Be Raw, Be Real, Be Relevant, Get Results

It’s been a while since I’ve had time to blog. A long while. What have I been doing? Kicking ass and taking names….but really, I’ve been making good on 2013 New Year’s resolutions, launching new organizations, and setting up 2014 to be one amazing journey. 2013 was an amazing year, but I have a feeling 2014 will be even better.

On January 2nd I was in the office trying to pull my professional life back together after the holidays, shaking away the cob webs and reorganizing my task lists. At our end of the year staff meeting, one of the managers said something that really stuck with me and I’ve decided to adopt it as my new motto for 2014.

2014 Motto:Be Raw, Be Real, Be Relevant, Get Results

Be Raw

Everyone has an opinion and everyone has a voice, use it. If you don’t like something, say it. If you have an idea, share it. No one ever advanced in life by staying quiet. It’s important to remember there is a very fine line between raw and offensive. You are free to have strong opinions, but be careful about the way you present them.

Be Real

Sugar coating doesn’t yield results professionally or personally. This ties back to the first point, be raw. Being real is about being a real person. Just because you walk into a professional setting, doesn’t mean you need to shed your personality, become a yes-man or an office drown . Your company hired you for a reason, they liked your personality, so make sure you show it. Have fun, make friends and make sure you’re real with your co-workers.

Be Relevant

This is an easy one. Be relevant at your company/organization or risk being let go. If you can’t prove you are a relevant and critical to the success of an organization, what reason do they have for keeping you? Make 2014 about relevancy. Don’t be afraid to take on more responsibility, more project or more work. Be relevant and reap the rewards.

Get Results

Relevant people get results. If you’re struggling to prove your relevancy, track your results, write them down, create reports, find a way to show your worth! Don’t be afraid to humble brag about your accomplishments at the office. If you won’t, who will?

Be Raw. Be Real. Be Relevant. Get Results. and you will flourish in 2014. Join me?
