Someday is NOT a Day of the Week: Productivity

Someday is not a day of the week. Someday is a Monday response, but today is Tuesday! Congrats you made it through the worst day of the week, now let’s strap in and get your productivity pumping to conquer the rest of the week.

I am an avid reader of 99U. I think they have fantastic articles and solutions for the young, ambitious professional. Did I mention they’re powered by Behance? Great software and products all around. Today I read an article on 99U called, Be Unapologetically Focused: Why Having a Great Strategy Matters. Since it’s Tuesday and we’ve gotten the worst day of the week out of the way, it’s time to become unapologetically focused on your weekly goals.

Productivity Awaits You

1. Identify your goals for the week
If you’re looking for organizational inspiration, check out a blog I recently published about maintaining a manageable to-do list. You can’t be productive if you don’t have a to-do list!

2. Set your strategy
Are you dedicating enough time, resources and creative energy needed to complete all of your tasks? Can you clear out a few meetings or delegate tasks to someone else? In order to be productive you need to stick to your strategy and most importantly, you need time to focus. Give yourself internal deadlines for tasks without hard deadlines. Break up big projects into smaller, more manageable work: give those tasks deadlines too!

3. Say No (when you can)
You’ll never get anything done if you say YES to every request. Learn when it’s appropriate to say no and use your focus time to pump out quality work. A great boss will be more impressed with quality than quantity…hopefully.

4. Re-evaluate and adjust
At the end of the week take a look at your goals and task list. Did you accomplish what you set out to do? If yes, rest up and repeat come Monday! If not, re-evaulate. It may take a while to adjust to a new task management system there is no cookie cut solution, so keep tweaking! Once you find a system that works best for you, you’ll be flying through tasks.

Go forth an conquer the rest of your week!
